Vegan Travel Guide

Bali for Vegans

Ubud, AcroYoga, Alchemy, and a slower way to experience the island.

Bali is an easy place to build a trip around plant-based food, movement, creative culture, and time outdoors. Ubud is the natural base: green, walkable in pockets, and rich with vegan restaurants and wellness spaces.

Why Ubud Works

Bali's cultural center combines rice-field scenery, temples, galleries, yoga studios, markets, and a broad plant-based dining scene. Central Ubud puts more places within walking distance; Penestanan offers a quieter village atmosphere nearby.

For countryside walks and popular sights, start early to avoid the strongest heat and largest crowds.

Try AcroYoga

AcroYoga blends partner acrobatics with yoga. Ubud hosts classes, jams, workshops, and occasional teacher trainings, but calendars change—confirm the date, level, venue, and instructor before you go.

  • Start with a foundations or beginner session.
  • Use a trained teacher and attentive spotter.
  • Share injuries and boundaries before practice.
  • Wear secure clothing and bring water.
  • Stop when communication or control slips.

Featured Vegan Stop

Alchemy Ubud

Jalan Penestanan Kelod No. 75, Ubud

Plant-Based + Gluten-Free

Alchemy's official site describes its menu as completely plant-based and gluten-free. The current Ubud menu ranges from raw food and juices to warm breakfasts, curries, bowls, soups, and brick-oven pizza.

Build Your Own

Choose a smoothie, coconut-yogurt, chia, or fruit base at breakfast, or assemble a salad or grain bowl with plant protein and dressing.

Know Before You Order

Many dishes use nuts, soy, or seeds. A fully vegan kitchen is not automatically allergen-free, so speak with the staff about allergies.

Hours checked September 2026: daily, 7:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. Always confirm before making a special trip.

A Relaxed Three-Day Plan

Day 1 · Arrive

Settle into Ubud or Penestanan, have a simple vegan dinner, and take an early evening walk. Give yourself time to adjust to the heat, humidity, and traffic.

Day 2 · Move

Eat a light breakfast, join a beginner-friendly AcroYoga or yoga class, then recover over a bowl or cooked meal at Alchemy. Walk Campuhan Ridge later in the day.

Day 3 · Explore

Visit a temple, market, or rice-field area early. Carry water and a snack, leave room for slow traffic, and return to town for an unhurried dinner.

Ordering Vegan Beyond Vegan Restaurants

At mixed-menu restaurants, ask about fish sauce, shrimp paste, egg, dairy, honey, and meat-based stock. Sambal and apparently simple vegetable dishes can still include animal ingredients.
